Most people have heard someone say the word HVAC, however multiple people don’t suppose what it stands for… Well, it stands for heating, ventilation & air conditioning. Heating refers to the gas furnace, an electric gas heater or even a boiler; Ventilation refers to air ducts & purifiers. Air conditioning refers to just what it says. Your normal HVAC system consists of an air handler, a heat pump, or condenser as some people call it, & refrigeration tubing that connects the two. The air handler contains heating & cooling coils that are instrumental in generating hot or chilly air that is then blown through the air duct in your house & out through the air vents. I’m not an HVAC provider, so I don’t suppose exactly how the whole system works, however the basic idea is that the condenser or heat pump either draws heat from the air outside, along with the heating or cooling coils in the air handler, generate the hot or chilly air that provides your indoor air temperature control. It is kind of magical if you ask me how an HVAC equipment can create hot air from chilly air in the Winter & chilly air from hot air in the summer. I imagine the people I was with and I all take for granted the technological advances and the calculus behind heating, ventilation & A/C. All most of us suppose is if our centralized air conditioning system fails, to simply call our HVAC contractor & leave it up to him to repair it. But I guess in our complex new world, I all have more substantial things to be concerned with!
