We are all freezing

My wife and I have been living together for about eight years. We met in college, and the two of us have been in love ever since that day.  However, one of our first major fights was over the control component settings, because my wife was too chilly in our apartment! I love to keep the control component set to 68 degrees, however she felt that was too chilly unless the two of us were living inside of a refrigerator daily. I agreed to the control component settings, and learn to live inside of a hot home.  By the time that the two of us bought our first home, we had already had a toddler. But, things were entirely hectic in the home, and various self-explanatory repair tours got thrown to the curb. One of those chores, was making sure to change the batteries in the control unit. My wife and I regularly agreed to change the batteries in the control component and smoke detectors twice each year. Each of us had special dates written on the calendar in July and January, in order to remember to change the batteries. It could become a immense problem if the batteries in the smoke detectors start to fail, and the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system will not function if the control component batteries are dead. It made sense for us to change them all at the same time, and during the transfer into our modern home, we actually forgot to change out the batteries in our modern control unit. By the time the two of us were about two weeks into our home, the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system was not entirely  working well. All of us woke up to an entirely frigid home, because the oil furnace was not turned on properly. However, when the two of us realized later the batteries in the control component were dead, the two of us both laughed out loud.
