I have always been a northerner, and for the most part, I don’t mind the winter. But this winter has been an exception. It’s been really cold, really snowy, and really gloomy. My husband and I decided that we should use some of our vacation time to go south for a week, hoping to thaw out a bit and relax. When we picked the location, we next made all of the travel and accommodation arrangements. Our neighbors were going to take care of things at home so that we’d have no worries. The day finally arrived for our adventure into a tropical location. Everything was going along smoothly until we got to our hotel room. It’s not that it wasn’t a nice place, in fact the room was really plush. And the sun was shining and it was seventy five degrees outside. But the room itself was freezing. I turned the dial on the air conditioning unit to the off position. But it just kept blowing cold air into the room. I figured that the management would just move us to a different room so that they could fix the a/c, but my heart sank when I called the front desk. They told me that every room was booked for the whole week, as it was prime vacation time. The best that they could offer us was a few extra blankets. Well, to say that were disappointed is an understatement. We made the best of it by staying outside much of the time. But it sure would have been nice to be able to relax in the plush hotel room.
