This past February brought us a major ice storm to our region of the northeast. The weather people had long predicted it then followed it seemingly inch by inch across our part plus then stayed live on the air all day to show all the devastation the storm was causing. Our part of town was hit badly with downed trees everywhere blocking icy streets plus causing big power outages. We had watched the storm heading our way on the television plus then went to sleep hoping for the best the next afternoon. When our wife plus I woke the people I was with and I were shocked to see that the people I was with and I still had full power plus that our lake house was nice plus warm. The television news rapidly let us see that the people I was with and I were actually lucky to still have power as most of our city did not. We suddenly heard a big crashing noise coming from the back hard plus hurried to see what had happened. A giant tree from the neighbors yard had come crashing into our yard taking our fence plus most of our deck down. I also could see the power lines under the weight of some of the branches. But somehow our power and heating reMained on. It was a bit prefer survivors guilt when the people I was with and I found out that most of our neighbors were separate from power plus consequently heating. The next few days were a blur with trying to get our mess cleaned plus offering help to our neighbors. We ended up have a number of neighbors stay with us as the people I was with and I had heating plus electricity. We even still had cable television so our location became the resident clubhouse for the whole street. We even ran electrical cords to our neighbors homes so that they could keep their refrigerators running plus not lose all their perishable food. Eventually almost everyone got their power turned back on plus could take satisfaction in their own oil gas furnaces again.
