I don’t mean to sound like I’m grumbling, because I truly like working at the grocery store. When I first started I just believed it would temporary, part time work until I found something significantly better! It turns out that the pay is fairly decent, however the benefits are absolutely wonderful. I get paid days off, and I genuinely love what I do, so why not stay and make a real career out of it. The only thing about the job I don’t really like, and this makes it seem like I am grumbling, is how freezing it is there. I work in the meat counter, which has its own dedicated air conditioner equipment in the back room to keep everything extremely cold. Also, I am right outside of the meat freezer, so I don’t even understand why the AC equipment is needed here at the counter. I have to wear a coat and gloves all day, sporadically even a scarf, because of those multiple levels of cooling all hitting me at the exact same time. When I go home at the end of the day, I never turn on my Heating and A/C equipment. I haven’t used my central air conditioner equipment at home in a long while, which ends up saving myself and others money on the utility bills. If it has been a particularly freezing day at work I might also turn on the gas furnace a little bit, just to help get rid of the chill. I know if my biggest problem about my job is that the AC equipment is too nippy, then I should count my blessings and keep punching the clock for many years to come.
