Happy with our a/c on the island

We two – my better half and myself –  just returned from a trip to the islands. Neither one of us had ever been before, so it was a new kind of experience for us. We spent more than two weeks in the tropical temperature, and compared to where we live, it was a whole new world. In this high north we get winters that last half the year, while the other half of the year isn’t much warmer; Part of me wishes we hadn’t gone to the islands, since it made coming home seem even more bleak than I would have imagined.

It’s not that we don’t know what air conditioner here; it just isn’t something that we need. We have never had an AC in our house, and only a couple of times a year do we even think about getting one. In the islands, I couldn’t imagine life without having A/C of some kind. It was fun on the beach, of course, however so hot and humid frequently we would rush back to the resort to get back to some cooling. It was the total opposite of home, and I imagine most homes down there don’t even bother having an oil furnace… Even if it does get cold, and I don’t know that it ever does, a little space gas furnace would be enough to keep you warm…

After all, we visited the islands while we were in the winter, and it was still hot enough to require an AC most of the time. So what does that tell you?
