The other day I was at the community center to donate some school supplies for a summer program in the area and I noticed that there were some new postings on the community board. When I went to take a closer look, I saw that one of the local heating and cooling companies was offering a half price special on furnace installation. I thought that this was odd given that it was the middle of the summer. I couldn’t imagine why anyone would be thinking about heating methods when it felt like 100 degrees outside already. However, the more I thought about the deal, the more I realized how uncommon it was. It makes sense that we would upgrade our furnace when we are in the summer because we aren’t using it. Unfortunately, most people are not that proactive. We wait to replace our furnace until the old one no longer works. However, I began to realize that this is why we end up paying emergency fees and extra charges. My furnace was over 20 years old and I doubted that I’d see a deal better than this. Eventually, I ended up returning to the community center and calling the listed contact for an installation. I scheduled an appointment for the end of the summer. That way, I will have plenty of time to make sure everything is working before the winter weather hits. Because there was such a good promotion, I was able to buy a much better model than I would have been able to afford at full price. I am actually looking forward to the installation, even though I don’t want summer to end. I guess it just makes the cold winter a little easier to look forward to!
