Don't try to fix the HVAC yourself

I’ve been working as a heating and air conditioning technician for 10 years now and I’ve seen all kinds of interesting situations with people’s heating and cooling systems.

Most of the jobs that I go on are uneventful and I don’t see anything that is particularly unusual, however every now and again I will find that there are people that go and they try to repair their own heating and air conditioning system.

I can understand why some people would be pushed to try to do this themselves, some people do not have the money to have their heating and air conditioning system repaired, but of course they want Heating and cooling because most people don’t want to go without heat in the winter or cool air in the summer. So they think that they can try to fix it themselves. They think that people that are heating and AC workers are going to tell them not to just because the HVAC business would lose money. While this might be true to a degree, it is also a fact that trying to repair your own Heating in the cooling system without knowing what you’re doing can be very dangerous and lead to some serious consequences. If you do something wrong or screw up you could very well accidentally electrocute yourself. If you don’t do that, you could damage your HVAC system to a state that’s much worse than it was before. Then that expensive repair is going to be even more expensive. You can turn a $100 repair into a $1,000 repair. I know that is not what most people want to hear but it’s a simple fact. I would recommend you stick with the heating and cooling professionals, not only for your own safety but for the safety of your HVAC system too.
