The only thing I haven’t enjoyed so much about the new environment is the constant heat! It’s nice to experience the beach for the first time and go on the weekends when there is time away from the stresses of life, but it definitely gets old quickly.
Being a person who lived in the northern midwest for his entire life, I wasn’t sure what to expect when my husband expressed his interest in getting a vacation home down south near his parents. Although I have accompanied him on trips to visit his parents, I don’t know the area that much down there other than the beach and the parks. We finally have the money to invest in real estate, and it gives us an excuse to have a property close to his sick parents. I have stepped in to help wherever I can when my husband isn’t capable of doing it himself. Even though we both work full time, we try to split up the work evenly between each other. In the end, his mom and dad have been like a second set of parents to me after I lost mine five years ago to a drunk driving accident. We had to find the best heating and cooling system for a warm environment because it’s not the same thing as the HVAC needs one would have up north where I’m from originally. Up there we needed the strongest furnace available for powerful winter heating, but down here it’s much smarter to use a heat pump because it can be reversed for cooling purposes as well. We managed to find a good deal on a new heat pump by calling around to nearby HVAC companies and asking for price quotes.
