I was so upset at the pregnancy ward because of the temperature in the delivery room! In most hospitals, they have thermostats in each of the rooms in the pregnancy ward! This is what my husband and I had planned for the delivery of our child.
When a woman gives birth, her body reacts in particular ways, and it seems like a reasonable request for that woman to be as comfortable as possible.
Temperature control really is the bare minimum in that regard. That is why most women are typically put in their own room with their own thermostat to control the temperature of the room. However, I was forced to give birth unexpectedly when we were nowhere near the hospital I planned to deliver in. This hospital was truly small and off the beaten path. I was nervous that the doctors wouldn’t know what they were doing, but they were honestly excellent and delivered my baby smoothly. My only qualm with the hospital was that they could not set the thermostat comfortably to save their lives. They had one single thermostat that controlled the temperature of the entire ward. On top of that, the nurses did not seem to know how to use the thermostat. When my husband and I first arrived, the temperature of the room was truly cold. Even in labor, I was still cold. I asked the nurse to adjust the thermostat to a warmer temperature, so the nurse left to do that; Apparently, he misunderstood, and he set the temperature to the highest heat. This made not only me, but my doctors uncomfortable. The temperature fluctuation was not good for the stress on my body. I’m not sure how difficult it is to work a thermostat, but apparently the nurse couldn’t handle it.
