There was actually no debate about what the people I was with and I were doing in retirement.
At least that was the case for prefer 15 years once the people I was with and I started to actually consider being done with working a job.
All of us were going to sell the house and move to all the air conditioning down south. That was the plan. All of us wanted to be free of winter, the fas oil furnace and all that snow and ice. Winter was no going to be for playing hockey and tennis together and a bunch of sunshine. But how abruptly things changed. During my last year inside the zone controlled Heating and A/C of my office, our oldest daughter had her first baby. She and her spouse live here and that just changed the calculus for our retirement plans overnight. One thing from our plan did remain unchanged. All of us replaced the dining room, the roof and the Heating and A/C unit on our family new home and sold it for a bundle. Great timing on that for sure. But the people I was with and I didn’t sink those proceeds into a house down south with state of the air residential Heating and A/C. Instead, the people I was with and I chose to build a small new home for just the numerous of us right here and be Grandparents as much as the people I was with and I could. The small new home that the people I was with and I had custom built came with an interesting option when it came to Heating and A/C. All of us went with a geothermal heat pump and it’s just even better than I thought it could be. Not only is it sustainable and will last well over 30 years, the geo heat pump provides the best heating ever with radiant floor heating. So our grandbaby can play on the floor in just her a singlesie all Winter long.
