I needed a few more hours for the install

Whenever there is an installation that includes a heat pump and an air conditioner, I tell the customer that it is going to take all day. Most of the time it takes around 6 to 8 hours to install a heat pump and an air conditioner and that is if there are no problems at all during the installation. There are still customers that will ask how long it’s going to take when I arrive. I know that the office calls our customers the day before and reminds them that it’s going to take all day. I had a customer that was having a heat pump and air conditioner installed last friday. We started the installation around 9:00 a.m. I wanted to start installing the machine at 7:00, but the customer said that was too early. When we started at 9:00, the lady wanted to know if we were going to be done by lunch. I laughed, but she wasn’t joking around. I told the customer that we might not even be done prepping the area until lunch time. I reminded her that it was going to take us at least 6 or 8 hours. After looking around at all of the equipment and the area that we needed to work in, I told the customer that it was definitely going to take 8 hours. She had a sour look on her face. She disappeared into the house and I didn’t see her again until later that afternoon. My crew and I were stopping to have lunch at 2:00. She looked at me like I was stealing from the cash register.
