I really haven’t had that much experience when it comes to dealing with the HVAC equipment.
That was always taken care of by my husband.
Once we got divorced, he gave me a crash course in all things residential HVAC. I have to say that my ex was pretty great once we split and he still lived here in town. There were times he would just call on his way back from the commercial HVAC the office to see if he could come by just to change the air filter. But when he took a job out of state, he was kind enough to give me a big list of things to do around the house. Actually it was more like a manual it was so comprehensive. But it really has come in handy when I’m trying to understand something that has to do with the upkeep of our home. Right before my ex husband moved away, he signed me up for the HVAC service plan. This is an HVAC maintenance plan which is offered by the local HVAC company we’ve always used. We get heating maintenance in the fall and then an air conditioning tune up in the spring. But I also get coupons for other services. And if there’s a breakdown I only have to pay for the parts. However, the latest change with the HVAC equipment was my idea. I upgraded the HVAC air filter to a HEPA filter. After doing some research and learning about how important indoor air quality was, it was time for an air filter upgrade. It was really cool that the first thing my ex husband noticed was the indoor air quality when he came for a visit.
