My AC was fine, it was my ductwork that needed sealing

For a long time I just thought I had an inferior HVAC device. It was annoying that on super hot days the cooling system would just run and run. The house felt humid and toasty. When I started fighting mold in the corners and bugs in the kitchen, I called the local HVAC dealership. I was prepared to give them a piece of my mind. I wanted them to take back their horrible air conditioner. Well after the inspection the HVAC tech informed me it wasn’t the HVAC unit, but my ductwork. Apparently my ductwork has a lot of bends and turns in them. That means more seams than usual. A seam with air ducts can pop quite easily. I had a popped seam which meant all the cold air my cooling system was producing was leaking out of the house. So the AC would run and run, but hot air would leak inside. Thankfully the HVAC dealership knew a ductwork sealing company that could do it quite cheaply. They came in right away with what looked like an airsoft gun. They shot sealant particles and air into my ductwork. Then the particles expand and form like a patch over the seam. Using a camera inserted into the ductwork, the ductwork sealing guys were able to determine if they did the job right. I can tell you that they did. My cooling system actually works wonders now. My energy bills are super low too. It has really been a game changer since getting ductwork sealing. I won’t let it go that far again.
