HVAC Jobs and That Kiss on my Cheek

Sounds like a strange title I know but let me explain.

I was eight years old and this girl came up to me, a very pretty girl named Adrianna, and she kissed me on my cheek as I was walking in from recess.

I was so scared that I never talked to her again and she ended up liking someone else and I ended up feeling very sad and regretful that I didn’t say something to her. This little experience shaped my life forever and it taught me to take chances and face fear. I got a job at the local business when I probably wouldn’t have tried because of fear of rejection, but getting that job changed my life for the best. It made me money so that I could do things like go skydiving and play golf, two things that I couldn’t have done because of the cost. I met my lovely wife working at the HVAC company there and we had two wonderful kids. Taking chances in life helps us grow and achieve things we otherwise wouldn’t have if we didn’t face our fears. I still have fears to conquer and hopefully have time left to do it. I am happy working on HVAC systems and helping customers program their smart thermostats but there are a lot more mountains I still would like to climb before I am too old to do so. I hope you are brave too and do those things that scare you so you can also see that the fear was just an illusion.

Life is a Dance and You Learn as You Go

The older I get the more I believe that you need to be assertive to get the things you want.

You need to move in the direction of your dreams to make them come true.

What is it that you dream of? Whatever it is, you should give it a shot so that when you are old and gray you won’t have regrets of things you didn’t do. These are the things that haunt me most nowadays, like the time I never talked to that cute girl who kissed me on the cheek when I was eight years old. HVAC equipment repair pays the bills for me but I aspire to be more in life than just an HVAC repairman. This is why I got into standup comedy twenty years ago as it challenged me and showed me another side of myself I never really knew. I do like to work on HVAC systems and help customers but I also believe there is more to life than just working and paying the bills. I got into skydiving for a few years, played drums in a band, became a pro volleyball player for a while, and a whole bunch of other fun hobbies that many people don’t even dare trying. I have to work for the HVAC corp to make money but I like to spend a lot of my time doing things that fill my soul with happiness and joy. Life is for living and not just sitting back watching others live. Now get out there and start living life!

Staying Cool on These Hot Summer Nights

We have about five or six more weeks of summer and then all of the tourists will leave and the temps will start dropping rapidly.

Actually, around the beginning of September everyone pretty much leaves our town to go back to school and back to their normal lives.

It’s just one endless party here in the summer with each day being Saturday more or less. I need to stay disciplined during summer because one can feel left out when everyone else is partying each day and night. I have a job at the heating corp in the winter doing heat pump repairs in customer’s homes. During the summer I don’t work so much and usually do more online writing and things like that. I like to keep my summer work schedule light so that I can hang out with my friends on the beach till late at night and just have some fun while cooling off after some games in the sand. I may ask this girl out one day when I am brave as I have talked to her many times in the local business where she works, but I am a bit scared to do it because she seems too pretty for a guy like me. Who knows though, you won’t win the race if you don’t lace up and give it a whirl. Maybe I can go in and ask her for help programming a smart thermostat, even though I already know how to do it! If you sit back and just wait for it to happen you could be sitting for a long time.

I’ve Been Stressing About my Furnace

Although I’m looking forward to the summer season ending and the cooler weather coming, I’m dreading having my furnace replaced.

When I had my HVAC system serviced at the beginning of the spring season, I knew that I’d have to have my furnace replaced.

Instead of doing it during that time, I pushed it off until the fall. I told myself that there was no point in having it replaced during the spring and summer months when I wouldn’t be using a furnace anyway. While this is true, it’s actually only caused me more anxiety and stress. Everyday, I think about how I need to spend thousands of dollars on a new furnace and about how I need to have it replaced soon. Having my furnace replaced has been a lingering responsibility hanging over my head that’s always nagging me. Now that summer is coming to an end, all I can think about is having my furnace replaced before the temperature drops. I wish I would have simply had the furnace replaced back in the spring so it would have been dealt with. I can’t go back in time though so it’s time for me to bite the bullet and arrange to have my old furnace removed and a new one installed. I’m going to contact the HVAC company tomorrow about getting me an estimate and hopefully that will get the ball rolling. I need this new furnace installed so I can stop stressing about it. Take my advice and have the furnace installed right away instead of waiting.

The AC Wasn’t Working at Rental

I had a terrible experience during my last vacation.

Upon checking into my vacation rental, I noticed how hot it was inside the unit.

I assumed the owner had left the AC off for economical reasons which I was willing to overlook. Unfortunately, when I went to the thermostat to adjust the temperature, I noticed that the AC was “on,” it just wasn’t running. The indoor temperature was 78 degrees despite being set to 74 degrees. Before unloading all my things, I contacted the rental owner. When he didn’t respond, I texted and left a message about the AC not working. I waited almost an hour before he responded with more questions. Instead of coming to see it himself or fixing the issue, he asked me to contact an HVAC company about it because he was out of town. I couldn’t believe that he was asking me to handle the broken AC myself as if I was running the rental. I was angry at this point and I told him that I would do no such thing. I was a paying guest and it was not my responsibility to fix a broken AC unit. I waited for him to offer me a different rental unit or to compensate me, but he never did. Instead, I told him that I would not be staying in a rental without AC and that I expected a full refund or I’d contact the credit card company. He wasn’t happy about my decision, but I didn’t care. It wasn’t my responsibility to fix the AC.
