The heat pump is the boss

For air conditioning, the heat pump is moving the heat energy out and providing cooling air to fill the space

I don’t have to worry about the heat this Summer or any Summer for that matter. When we moved down here to retire, I made sure that we got the latest in residential HVAC. We were thrilled to be able to give up heating with a gas furnace. That was what we did for forty years while we lived way up north. But I really didn’t know all that much about heat pumps. We really didn’t need much air conditioning where we lived. Sure, it got a bit hot during July and August where we lived. But all I did was throw in a couple of window air conditioning units and moved on. There just wasn’t that much call for cooling to even consider adding a heat pump. Although, that’s exactly what we did when we updated the HVAC equipment prior to selling that house. I spent some time really trying to understand the heat pump. And the more I looked into it, the more I was just so impressed with this type of heating and cooling equipment. It’s really quite a marvel and I don’t think most people down here realize just how amazing the heat pump is. While we don’t need a great deal of heating here, all we need is easily taken care of by the heat pump. What’s so amazing to me is that the heating and cooling come from the same process. For air conditioning, the heat pump is moving the heat energy out and providing cooling air to fill the space. It reverses this process in the Winter to bring in heating energy from the ambient air outside in order to warm the house. The heat pump is for sure the boss when it comes to heating and cooling our home.
