We knew our roof was getting old… My pal Ed and I had been in this home for over fifteen years, so it was almost 35 years old.
My pal and I suspected it hadn’t been replaced in 35 years… When the roofers showed up, they did a quick inspection of the roof plus told Ed the roof needed to be replaced, but so did the skylight! There were water tracks in the skylight, plus she showed Ed where the water was leaking in around the trim, but she told Ed that by replacing the roof plus skylight, he and I would also save currency on our Heating as well as Air Conditioning usage, however if there was water leaking in through the skylight, there had to be a lot of heat loss in the same area, then since Ed and I called the roofers because of a leak in the attic, my pal and I were truly losing heat in the attic.
It wasn’t just the leak in the roof plus skylight where Ed and I were losing heat, but the insulation was shot. Ed and I knew my pal and I could not afford to lose heat through a faulty roof plus skylight! After 15,000 bucks for a new roof plus skylight, Ed and I realized how right the roofers were; Our weekly bills went down this winter, by almost 40%, our heater didn’t run as long, plus our home felt warmer than it had been in years. I thought the roofers were just looking to add as much money as they could to fill their coffers, plus I am sure I owe them an apology. Our roof was just too seasoned to stop the heat from escaping our house. I’m glad Ed and I could have the roof repaired plus save heating at the same time.
