My partner was actually hyped on safety… We lived in the middle of nowhere, but both of us often so headlights coming up our driveway.
- We were fairly particular it was youngsters looking for some arena to park, but you could never be sure, however last week, both of us had someone knocking on our door at midnight, then our nearest neighbor was about half a mile away, so it had to be a stranger, and my partner had his gun with him when he opened the door.
The guy told my partner he was lost and he needed directions, and at midnight, I would never knock on the door of a stranger if I was just lost. My partner told him to turn around and go back the way he had come, and showed the gun. That’s when both of us knew both of us needed outdoor lighting to help keep us safe. When both of us were in our forties, both of us knew both of us were safe. My partner was strong and could lift five hundred pounds, but now that both of us were in our seventies, both of us were no longer as capable. Outdoor lighting could spook strangers and have them leaving before they got out of the car. We called an electrician and asked about outdoor lighting! He told us to call a security corporation he worked for. Not only would both of us have outdoor lighting that was motion activated, but cameras that would show us exactly who was outside. He said there were doors you could see out, but the people couldn’t see in, regardless of how much light was behind you. We had the door installed, and the electrician did all of our outdoor lighting. My partner went from weightlifting to computers, and he set up our surveillance system.
