We have regular maintenance 4 times a year and we have to pay to replace components at least once a year until it can no longer be fixed
I live on the beach. Everyone I know is envious. However, I can’t tell you how many times I have wished that we had chosen to buy a house a bit further inland. Yes the view is amazing. It is nice to hear the waves at night (unless there is a scary storm). It is also nice to just walk out my front door and go for a beach walk or an ocean swim. However, it is annoying to have sand in my house constantly. It is scary when a hurricane, or big storm, comes my way. We end up having to room with a friend for a few days while we worry whether we will have a home to come back to. Another concern is rust from all of the salt in the air and in the soil. We constantly have to fix things as the nails rust out of the house. Our car looks 10 years older then it is. Also, our HVAC system breaks down all of the time. We have plastic ductwork and use as much plastic as we can. However, the inner working of our HVAC system are all metal. With salt in the air all of the time this causes rust and erosion inside of our HVAC system. These HVAC systems should last about 20 years. Ours last about 8 years if we are lucky. We have regular maintenance 4 times a year and we have to pay to replace components at least once a year until it can no longer be fixed. So no, I don’t really like living on the beach.
