Moving with the Navy means unusual kinds of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems

My hubby is in the Navy, but that means that we move every few years when her duty station fluctuations.

During the first few years we took military housing… However, military housing is not the best.

They are constantly really seasoned houses and sometimes they have big problems and it is hard to get anyone to fix them. Take, for example, the dwelling we lived in out near the Pacific; It had a lot of problems. To start with, the plumbing constantly gave us troubles, then my buddy and I constantly had to call service to fix it. They would but then they would tell us to be careful with what we put down the pipes. This happened almost weekly. Then the cooling system stopped working in the middle of June, then again, service came out but they couldn’t fix the issue. Instead, they gave us a window cooling system to use until the central cooling system got fixed. That turned out to be over 2 weeks. It was terrible. After that we started renting houses off base. Those are better for us. The people that own those houses usually only own a few houses so they take really wonderful care of them; When the heating system broke down on the east coast it was fixed instantly. I am blissful because we are about to move again and the dwelling we found to rent has underfloor heating and cooling. I have never lived in a dwelling with underfloor heating or cooling before. So this will be a nice treat. I bet the radiant floors will feel really nice on my feet when I have to get up in the afternoon.
