Country celebration

It was as I guessed – the air conditioner was modern & the thermostat was set at seventy degrees

My niece got married recently at a elegant country location during the month of June. The place was a completely restored farmhouse, cabin, & meeting hall located on 100 acres. The grounds consisted of beautifully manicured lawns & rolling pastures, complete with small farm animals. The marriage ceremony took place outside under a white canopy, & the guests stood in a semi-circle around the bride, groom, & bridal get together. The sunshine was overheated & the air was humid, so all the people assumed that my good friend and I would be ushered into A/C afterwards! Unluckyly, that was not what happened. The reception took place in an non-air conditioned cabin. As the day wore on, more & more people tried to spend as much time as possible inside of the one air conditioned building on the site, the one which housed the kitchen & the restrooms, and i have no doubt that the Heating & A/C system was functioning officially, but due to the fact that the door was opened & shut non-stop as birthday guests came & went, not to mention the fact that the btu’s put off by all the people’s body, there was little to no relief in the air conditioned space. One of the guests approached the owners & inquired about the air conditioner. It was as I guessed – the air conditioner was modern & the thermostat was set at seventy degrees. Of course the room itself wasn’t ever cooled to that temperature. By the time that my good friend and I left to return to our hotel, my good friend and I couldn’t wait to shower, change out of our sweaty clothes, & relax in our cooled room. Alas, my good friend and I had one more event to attend at the location – the afternoon after breakfast!
