When my hubby and I first got married we hardly had a dime to our name… I was 18 years old, he was 19, and my associate and I had just graduated high college and I was 2 months pregnant. My associate and I rented this tiny little studio home in a bad part of town, however the home didn’t have air conditioning at all. It had a little wall heater built into the wall however neither of us felt like it was safe to use! But winter was 6 months off and the lack of air conditioning was a bit aggravating, and especially since I was pregnant. In November the heat got absolutely bad and I was starting to get cranky, then and yet, we simply couldn’t afford a window air conditioning. That’s why I was surprised when my hubby came house with a window air conditioning unit after labor one morning, then he said he obtained it off of a man who was selling them on the side of the freeway. It cost only $25. My first thought was that the air conditioning might be stolen. My second though was that I didn’t care. My associate and I installed the window air conditioning using an old piece of wood as a stand. That cool breeze felt so nice. That little window unit kept us comfortable for 3 years until we finally were able to rent a location with central air conditioning. Even then we took it with us when we moved. It is in the garage still so that we have it just in case we need it. I still wonder where it came from though.
