I guess there must be a learning curve to any new experience.

But I have to say that I was a bit surprised at just how much I’m learning now that I own my home.

Prior to homeownership, I simply called a rental office if something like the air conditioning wasn’t working. I’m not at all handy as that just wasn’t something that I found charming. But now that I’m in my own locale, I’m learning to be much more self adequate. Buying the household by myself was a large challenge in plus of itself. Just saving for the down payment took me over a decade before I had enough to actually buy. But since it’s just me, I was able to find a starter household in my price range. All the essentials were in turnkey shape when I bought this house. There was a new roof plus the home office had been completely renovated. Additionally, there was new HVAC equipment to provide the heating plus cooling comfort I wanted. The HVAC component is of good quality plus a truly reliable brand. I actually splurged a bit plus had a smart temperature control installed as well. With the smart temperature control, I at least don’t have to be on top of the temperature control setting all the time in order to save currency on utility costs. But that does not mean I don’t have other responsibilities when it comes to the residential HVAC. I want to protect this investment so enrolled the HVAC component in the HVAC repair plan. I’m also setting alarms on my phone to remind to do my part with changing the air filter, etc.

More often than not, I tend to be one of those people who can just not see the answer to a challenge even when it’s right in front of my face.

So the fact that it took me so long to get out of the awful heating plus cooling of the gym isn’t all that surprising.

It’s so great not to dread this time of year any longer. When my friend and I lived up north, at least Christmas was a bit of a distraction from all the cold. That meant I was in line to cash in on my retirement plan with entirely little penalty. But it still wasn’t easy leaving the zone controlled HVAC of that office. I had spent all of my work inside that commercial HVAC. But it was particularly worth it given the fact that I was gifted nearly a decade of extra retirement. Once my friend and I sold the house, my friend and I set out for the south where there would be no need for a gas boiler. I can do separate from a white Christmas plus all that stuff. I can do separate from all of that because I so care about the fact that winter season comes with good weather down here. While my friend and I may get a chilly snap here plus there, the heat pump pretty much stays dormant through the winter. But of course, the other side of that coin is the fact that my friend and I need a/c for up to 8 months a year. Still, I would rather deal with the heat of summer time than the deep chilly of a northern winter.
