One of the best decisions we made when building our loft was adding a ductless mini split system to the finished basement.
My husband & I had debated on whether or not we wanted to add a source of heat & air since the basement was naturally cool since it was underground. However, the more we contemplated it, the more we knew how much more utilized the space would be if we added some sort of heat & air. Both of us were spending a lot of extra money to have the basement finished instead of left unfinished, so we wanted to get our money’s worth. Both of us thought about attaching the air duct to the basement & utilizing the central Heating & A/C system, however we didn’t want to purchase a hour Heating & A/C unit. If we used the same Heating & A/C component as the main part of the house, our temperature control would never be able to distinguish an accurate temperature for the basement since it was naturally cooler. It wouldn’t be efficient or worth it. This is why we enjoyed the system of using a ductless system. Both of us could install several units to the ceiling & they could be adjusted via a small remote. The ductless mini split systems could heat & cool the basement with a click of a button & it wouldn’t take any time to adjust the temperature. They were also powered by electricity, which made them efficient. Installing the ductless mini split system was a wise system & a nice investment. Both of us are able to like the basement so much more now.
