All I needed was an air conditioning unit.

When I called the HVAC company, I knew I wanted to purchase an air conditioning unit.

  • Last summer they told me I would need a new AC unit before this summer arrived.

I had the money in the bank and I called the HVAC company. I asked them to send an HVAC contractor to the house so I could order an AC unit. When he got there, he asked what kind of HVAC system I was interested in? He wanted to know if I wanted an air purification system, and if I had any family changes happening. I told him all I wanted was a new air conditioning unit to replace the one that was going bad last year. He asked about my ductwork and offered to do an inspection. Two years earlier, I had to have the furnace replaced. The ductwork was already twenty years old, and my husband and I decided it was time to have it replace. We bought the new furnace and ductwork at the same time. This year, I wanted to replace the air conditioning unit, and nothing else. I told him I wanted him to do his job and figure what tonnage the AC unit needed to be, and I would tell him what SEER I wanted. When we came to the like opinions, I would pay him. He would then deliver and install the new AC unit. He did all of his calculations, but he had one more question, which had me angry. He asked if I wanted a new thermostat. I asked him what part of needing just an air conditioning unit he didn’t understand?
