The first time hosting guests in my new home took a turn when the electric heating system shut down.
At first, I thought it was something I had done when I was adjusting the temperature on the wireless thermostat, but after further investigation, I realized that I had done nothing that could cause that.
The next thing I did was inspect the furnace/heater installation. I was not sure what I was looking for, but I thought that if something were wrong, it would stand out. I stood there gazing at it, but nothing stood out, or rather I did not know what to look out for. I ended up calling the heating dealership, and I was lucky to be the last call they would be attending before they closed for the day. The HVAC tech was at my house at half-past four in the evening. He asked me if I had a scheduled HVAC service plan. When I told him I could not remember the last time I had heater maintenance, he said that could be the cause of all my heater problems. He proceeded to inspect the boiler and detected what the problem was. The house also had heated floors, which he serviced. The whole heating repair cost me a pretty penny because he also had to replace some parts, which would be done later on since he did not have them with him. When I told him that I replace the furnace filter twice a year, he told me that I had to increase the number to four. Everything I learned that day seemed to me that I was very green when it came to heat and AC products and, in general, the heating industry.
