I don’t remember ever saying anything about wanting to be an actual heating and air conditioning serviceman when I grew up, and when I was a kid, I used to admire our Mom being an actual heating and air conditioning serviceman… I thought he was our hero, even though I didn’t remember ever once saying I wanted to do what he did.
- I often said I wanted to care about our Mom, because he was an amazing Mom and I idolized him when I was little.
I didn’t want to be an actual heating and air conditioning serviceman; then as I got older, I told our parents I wanted to go into the service. I was trying to figure out if I wanted to go in the Navy or the Air Force, however mom would tease myself and others that I could not get any more diverse with our choice, then the air and the sea were quite different. When I graduated from school, our Mom was going to pay for myself and others to go to a heating and air conditioning serviceman’s school. I tried to tell him I didn’t want to be an actual heating and air conditioning serviceman, but he wasn’t listening. Two days after graduation, I joined the Navy. When I started working, I didn’t intend on becoming an actual heating and air conditioning serviceman, but the job was totally open. They were training myself and others to do the work on the heating and air conditioning plan on the ships. Without correct ventilation, not a single one could survive below deck. It was crucial work, and a single that was hoisted on me, but five years later, I was back in the condo and ready to go to work. My Mom smiled when I told him I had our heating and air conditioning certification! He said he was glad I made the decision, but happy I made it in our own way.
