I was looking to buy a cheap HEPA air filter to see if it worked in our oil furnace.
I knew they were expensive plus I didn’t want to buy an expensive before I knew if it was going to work in our oil furnace.
I went to several unusual Heating, Ventilation plus A/C companies in our search for a cheap HEPA air filter, but all the people looked at me oddly. I finally had 1 Heating, Ventilation plus A/C serviceman give me 1 he kept in his repair van, just to show homeowners how much thicker they were than official air filters. He asked for our address plus told me he would come to the beach house plus let me see if it worked. Later that afternoon, I was just getting beach house from work when the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C serviceman arrived. I showed him to the basement, plus he brought the HEPA air filter with him. He showed me the difference between our air filter plus the HEPA air filter. He explained the reason the HEPA air filter was so much heavier was because it was made to attract more dirt plus debris, plus hold it. The oil furnace had to have special requirements if it was going to beach house a HEPA air filter. He said that most oil heating systems made more than several years ago, would not be able to have a HEPA air filter installed without doing harm to the oil furnace. It would not allow enough airflow, plus it would actually disfigure the component plus cause more harm than good. I hated to admit he may be right, although I had to admit that what he was saying about the HEPA air filter made a lot of sense now that I saw the difference.
