I woke up this morning, I found myself sweating excessively, not from a scary nightmare, but from the extreme heat in my bedroom.
It felt as if someone had turned on the oven right next to me.
Despite the smart thermostat being programmed to adjust the temperature, the heat was unbearable and I knew that I would not be able to fall back asleep. I checked the temperature settings but everything seemed to be in order. I felt the heat emanating from the vents and I knew something was wrong. I didn’t really want to open the windows because of the smell of the sewage plant that is down the road. My options were limited but I knew I had to call an emergency HVAC tech to diagnose the problem. Thankfully, I was able to get an HVAC technician who was available and nearby to come to my aid within a half hour. The technician conducted a thorough examination and ruled out the possibility of the filters being clogged. After performing several latest, he identified the issue to be a faulty thermostat. He had to turn off the thermostat and explained to me that he needed replacement parts to fix it. The repair wouldn’t take long but a few hours to complete. I knew for the next few hours I’d have to deal with the heat. The experience was frustrating and it disrupted my sleep but I was grateful that the HVAC tech was able to identify the problem and that it will be resolved soon. He came back and repaired the HVAC unit and I’m back to being comfortable. No more blast of heat and I think it’s time for a nap.
