My dad made a few calls after I came home

I spent six years in the army and I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I came home.

  • I had a lot of different skills that I acquired in the Army.

One of those skills was heating and air conditioner repair. When I came home from the military, my dad made a few phone calls. One of the calls was to his best friend. The guy owns a commercial HVAC business. My dad set me up with an interview and I met with the owner of the commercial HVAC business a couple of days later. I honestly didn’t even need an interview. The guy was ready to hire me as soon as I walked through the doors. He knew my dad for 30 years and he would have absolutely hired me just because my dad wanted. It was nice to have my dad on my side. I could have spent months looking for a job, but I found a place to work a week after I left the military base. I’m still working at the same commercial HVAC business and it has been almost a year. I absolutely enjoy the work. I don’t mind fixing heat pump and air conditioner problems, and I like working by myself all day. I don’t have anyone watching over me throughout the day and I don’t have to worry about making mistakes. It’s nice to have a job that makes me feel an immense amount of pride. I think this career was the right choice for someone with my unique skill set.
