My heater lit on fire

My family and I love to go camping.

When we were younger, we went tent camping and really enjoyed it.

Now that we are older, we do not enjoy tent camping quite as much. It is just much harder on us since our bodies are so much older. I can hardly get off of our air mattress when we sleep in our tent. It is just too much work for us now, so we rarely go. We love camping though, so we decided to buy a cabin out in the middle of nowhere. It is actually about ten miles back into the woods behind our house. It is beautiful, and we love staying there for a relaxing get away. There is no heat in the cabin, so we have to bring little space heaters or propane heaters with us in order to stay warm enough during the night. I brought one of my larger space heaters from home last time we went camping, and something quite scary and surprising happened. I was lying on the couch watching the sun go down when I smelled something burning. I looked behind me to find that my space heater was on fire. I was so scared that I screamed for my husband, and he came running to the rescue. Thankfully, he was able to put the fire out in no time, and nothing was significantly damaged. There is a small spot on the floor under where the heater was sitting that is burnt. I am so glad that I was able to catch the fire quickly, and that my husband was able to put it out easily. I do not think I will be bringing old space heaters on our camping trips anymore.
