Starting daycare is no child’s play. I remember when I decided to start one. Since I loved and easily got along with children, I thought that was all I needed. When I went through the requirements to start a standard daycare, I knew it was way more than I could handle, so instead, I went to work for one that was already running. I was to do other than my work with the children to oversee the HVAC service plan every spring and fall and every other thing related to the furnace/heater installation. I never encountered any issue until the day all hell broke loose and the electric heating system failed. I was always very timely when it came to heater maintenance, so this came as a surprise. It was in the middle of winter, and all I could do was cross my fingers that the heating dealership would attend to our matter within the hour. Lucky for us, there was an HVAC tech within the area, and he was there in half an hour which was nothing short of a miracle during winter. When he inspected the electric heating system, everything was okay, which meant that the heated floors should be warming the place, but they weren’t. The furnace filter was in good shape, and it was all beginning to be mysterious. He suddenly remembered that he had not checked the wireless thermostat, and when he did, he found out that the system was scheduled to shut down at that time. Of all the things in the heating industry that could befall the heat and AC products, it had to be me leaving my phone with my six year old who unknowingly adjusted the boiler settings remotely. No heating repair was needed after all.
