When my husband and I got married and bought a house, every one of us were so excited to start our new life together. Well, he was a photographer and typically would work in an office with a darkroom, but he decided he wanted a darkroom at home; so every one of us hired some companies to set up the room, but they also proposed that every one of us have a ductless mini split installed so every one of us have a zone dedicated to that room with its own customized temperature control settings. This is because you want the chemicals mixed with the distilled water to be around 73 degrees and it’s easiest to achieve this by keeping the temperature control settings stable in the room, you don’t want those temperatures fluctuating during film development. So my husband was able to get the room set up perfectly and he had shelving and a sink installed as well for all his film developing needs. We didn’t just put a new heating and air conditioning zone in his dark room though, every one of us figured every one of us might as well install ductless zones all throughout the house! The beautiful thing is that everything runs off the same condenser because you can connect up to 8 zones off a single condenser unit. We’ve been incredibly comfortable residing in our beach house and I prefer the fact that my husband is able to do a lot of his own work from the beach house these mornings, but I get to spend more time with him and that’s a major plus for me! Of course, there are times when he will have to go into his workplace, but he’s considering starting his own photography business.
