He wasn’t happy about our decision, although I did not care
I had a bad experience during our last getaway. Upon checking into our getaway rental, I noticed how hot it was inside the unit. I assumed the owner had left the A/C off for economical reasons which I was willing to overlook. Unfortunately, when I went to the thermostat to adjust the temperature, I noticed that the A/C was “on,” it just wasn’t running. The indoor temperature was 72 degrees despite being set to 73 degrees. Before unloading all our things, I contacted the rental owner. When he didn’t respond, I texted plus left a message about the A/C not working. I waited almost an hour before he responded with more questions. Instead of coming to see it himself or fixing the issue, he asked me to contact an Heating as well as Air Conditioning company about it because he was out of town. I could not guess that he was asking me to handle the broken A/C myself as if I was running the rental. I was miserable at this point plus I told him that I would do no such thing. I was a paying guest plus it was not our responsibility to fix a broken A/C unit. I waited for him to offer me a weird rental device or to compensate me, but he never did. Instead, I told him that I would not be staying in a rental without A/C plus that I expected a full refund or I’d contact the debit card corporation. He wasn’t happy about our decision, although I did not care. It wasn’t our responsibility to fix the AC.
