The A/C Wasn’t Working at Rental

I had a bad experience during my last vacation.

  • Upon checking into my vacation rental, I noticed how overheated it was inside the unit.

I assumed the owner had left the A/C off for economical reasons which I was willing to overlook. Unluckyly, when I went to the temperature control to adjust the temperature, I noticed that the A/C was “on,” it just wasn’t running. The indoor temperature was 74 degrees despite being set to 73 degrees. Before unloading all my things, I contacted the rental owner. When he didn’t respond, I texted & left a message about the A/C not laboring. I waited almost an hour before he responded with more questions. Instead of coming to see it himself or fixing the issue, he asked myself and others to contact an Heating & A/C contractor about it because he was out of town. I couldn’t know that he was asking myself and others to handle the broken A/C myself as if I was running the rental. I was angry at this point & I told him that I would do no such thing. I was a paying guest & it was not my responsibility to maintenance a broken A/C unit. I waited for him to offer myself and others a unusual rental component or to compensate me, however he never did. Instead, I told him that I would not be staying in a rental without A/C & that I expected a full refund or I’d contact the credit card dealer. He wasn’t ecstatic about my decision, although I didn’t care. It wasn’t my responsibility to maintenance the AC.
