I’m really glad that we have the type of heating system that we do
This old cabin that we stayed in last month had baseboard heating installed in it. I thought it was pretty weird because I had not been inside a place with baseboard heating in at least 30 years or so. It felt very retro to me when I walked in and saw the baseboard heating installed on the walls in the cabin. It was a bit of a surprise, and my kids had no idea what it even was. They started asking me what the things were on the walls and I tried to explain to them that it was an old sort of heating system and they just looked at me like I was crazy. When I turned the baseboard heating on, it started warming up in there fairly quickly and I told them not to touch the heating units because they can get really hot. It was interesting because it actually led us into a conversation about the history of heating systems inside of the homes in our country and throughout the rest of the world. That was a really weird conversation, but we ended up deciding that we like our high efficiency furnace system at home much better than the baseboard heating system that was at the cabin we were staying in. I’m sure that our high efficiency furnace system costs a fraction of the amount that it would cost to heat our house with baseboard heating. I’m really glad that we have the type of heating system that we do. Baseboard heating would probably cost a fortune in a house the size of ours.
