I assume having grandchildren was the tipping point for my wife and I.
When the people I was with and I were still back in college, we chose to get married.
And once we graduated and got tasks that came with a desk and commercial Heating, Ventilation plus A/C machines, we thought it was great to start a family. It was almost like a routine we were following. Our life was going to be even larger and grander than our parents for sure. That was the American way. However, we honestly came from fairly wealthy circumstances. The two of us both grew up in residences that were well appointed, huge and had the latest in residential Heating, Ventilation plus A/C. So the reality of automatically having a much nicer life than our parents wasn’t at all assured. The two of us came to learn that out in no time when we were both really working full time and still, it was hard to get by. This caused us to sort of change our trajectory and simply be grateful for what we honestly had and perhaps simplify our lives to a certain degree. That’s what we did and we managed to focus on raising our adolescents. Once we substituted the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C machine in the family residence and sold it, we wondered what we would do next. The simplified life took on an ecological perspective once the grandchildren came about and climate change became a fact. The two of us felt it was quite necessary to do our part so we built a much smaller residence and chose a geothermal heat pump for our heating and cooling. This heating and cooling machine is the most sustainable outside of solar power. The two of us want to do all we can manage in order to help change the trajectory of climate change and consumption in our lives so our grandchildren can have a good chance at being happy in life.
