After the pandemic, I was told my job had been eliminated and I had no job to return to.

I was devastated because I had three children and a house to support.

Without a job, I was worried about ending up homeless, and I had to learn how to do something else. After a lot of deliberation, I took most of my savings and went to school for HVAC certification. Within six months I had graduated and was just waiting for my certification. While waiting, I was working for the local HVAC company and doing my ride alongs. The first thing the HVAC technician I was riding with asked me was how I was going to repair the air conditioning unit we were working on? He told me the symptoms and wanted me to diagnose it. I gave him the right diagnosis, but I also told him the AC unit couldn’t be fixed. He looked at me like he was questioning my decision. I explained that the air conditioning unit had been installed before the end of the millennium. That meant it was at least twenty years old. To repair this air conditioning unit would be like putting a bandaid on a severed artery. I would only be giving it a couple more breaths and the owner would pay for a repair and still need to purchase a new AC unit before the end of summer. He looked like he wasn’t sure about what I was saying, but then he smiled. He told me I could explain this to the owner of the AC unit, but he agreed with me.

I needed to have some work done to my furnace.

Even though winter was officially over, I didn’t want to allow my furnace to go all summer without being repaired.

I had done this once before, and when the HVAC came to do my inspection, he had never found the problem. The first time I started my furnace that winter, it refused to work. I was so upset that the furnace wouldn’t work that I called the HVAC company and accused the technician of sabotaging my furnace. When I remembered the furnace wasn’t working properly at the end of the last season, I blamed myself for not having a working furnace. Had I remembered to tell the HVAC technician there was a problem, it would have been repaired. I was not going to let that happen again. I was fairly certain that I was going to need a new furnace before winter began. When I called to have my air conditioning unit serviced before summer arrived, I told the receptionist that I needed to also have my furnace repaired. I wasn’t surprised when the HVAC technician told me I needed to have a new furnace. I had pre planned for this, and I knew what furnace I wanted for my house. He seemed a bit shocked, but he agreed with my choice. A week later, I not only had a working air conditioning unit, but I had a brand new furnace in my basement. I really liked the HVAC technician who came to my home. He was young, but he was also knowledgeable, and he did his work efficiently.

I had called the HVAC company to have my air conditioning inspected.

I knew it had been several weeks since I called, but I hadn’t heard back from them with a date for the service.

I called the HVAC company and once again requested they send an HVAC tech to the house and service my air conditioning unit. The woman who answered the phone told me they were short two HVAC techs, and it was going to take them a bit longer to get to the house and service my AC unit. I asked what happened to the old HVAC technician who usually serviced my HVAC system. He took a deep breath and told me he had been in an accident. She didn’t mention if he was okay or if he was in the hospital, and I wasn’t sure if I should even ask, but I had become friends with her. I explained how Sue and I had become friends and I was concerned. She told me that Sue had passed away and gave me the information on her memorial service. As sad as I was to hear that news, I still needed to have my air conditioning unit serviced. It was the AC unit that originally had me call the HVAC company. She told me that I would need to wait for two more weeks, at the longest. By then, they would have another HVAC technician hired. I made a note to contact the family and send a donation to her charity and then circled the date when I should have my HVAC servicing done. If I didn’t have a date by then, I was going to call them back.

I was in my home the other evening when I heard a car door slam.

I looked outside and saw the HVAC service van in my driveway.

I couldn’t figure out why he was at my house. I watched him as the HVAC technician tried peeking through the window. I was wondering if he had the wrong address and was worried that something had happened. It was early spring, but many people were still using their furnaces. Maybe the person who called the HVAC company had a gas furnace, and he worried ‌the furnace had overcome the customer with carbon monoxide. All kinds of scenarios were going through my mind, but I was hesitant to open my door. Finally, the HVAC technician knocked on the door, but he stood slightly to the left of the peephole and I couldn’t quite see him. I left the safety chain on the door and stood to the side as I opened the door. The HVAC tech reached inside and told me he was cold. He wanted to come inside, turn up the thermostat and get warm. He was practically begging for me to let him in. It wasn’t until he yelled at me and called me Sis that I recognized the voice. I could have kicked him when I let him in the house. He hadn’t told me he had gone to HVAC school, and he hadn’t told me he would be dropping by the house. As much as I missed him, I still wanted to beat him senseless, but I wanted to give my brother, the HVAC tech, a hug before yelling at him.

I am cheerful though that the portable space furnace that I have down there does the job in the winter.

The last big purchase I made was the kind I have not made in years as well as will entirely not again for another numerous years. I invested in a ductless mini chop a/c plan for the basement; You see I have a bedroom genre thing going on down there as well as the central heating as well as a/c plan does not have any air vents down there. In the Winter time the two of us had been using a portable space furnace that did the job well in heating the venue. However, when the two of us tried a portable a/c plan it just wasn’t enough. So that was why I made the numerous thoUnited Statesnd dollar investment in a single ductless mini chop a/c plan equipment for the basement. Ever since I have, the summers have been much easier to deal with down there when it got genuinely hot. This ductless mini chop a/c plan genuinely worked wonders. I am cheerful though that the portable space furnace that I have down there does the job in the winter. Otherwise I may have had to invest even more money to have this ductless mini chop a/c plan converted into a full on ductless mini chop heating in addition to air conditioning. Which these afternoons a lot of people who can afford to are really doing to go ductless as well as save money on their bi-weekly bi-weekly bills. This is because running the central heating as well as a/c plan can get quite pricey. But lucky for me, the two of us have not had that issue because the two of us have a smart thermostat which helps keep the heating as well as cooling bills down.
