Having been working hard for so long, I finally felt the need for a vacation.

• I spoke to my wife about it and she agreed it would be great to go out, relax, and have an enjoyable time.

We looked into different things we could do and then I got excited when I saw that we could take a yacht out on an impressive bay to visit a unique island. The trip included all meals aboard the yacht and during our stay ashore on the island where they had a historic maritime museum which was also included in the tour. It was also said that the yacht had top-of-the-line climate control with zoned HVAC so that you could go to different areas for customized temperature control. You could stay in our own section too where you could also adjust the temperature control settings how you saw fit. Well, we both thought it sounded wonderful, so we booked the trip. I couldn’t believe how nice the boat was and my wife and I enjoyed the views of the shores and all the beautiful wildlife out there. We were even able to see the huge jellyfish looking creatures which were said to be sea nettles. We didn’t spend too much time out in the sun though, we appreciated the air conditioning as much as we could with the ideal temperature control settings. The food we had was absolutely delicious too, and usually I’m not a huge fan of seafood. The maritime museum was also very pleasant and we learned a lot about the history of the seas in that area and the boats and lighthouses that were used. Also, it was great that the museum even had nice air conditioning so we didn’t mind staying there for a long while.

For the longest time, my wife and I talked about how exciting it would be to get away from the kids for awhile and enjoy a sweet, passionate and romantic retreat where we could just be ourselves.

• It seems we are always dealing with one thing after the next with the youngsters.

If they aren’t fighting over the temperature control settings, or arguing about playing on the gaming systems or computers, then they are getting into some other kind of mischief. It seems that they always fight on purpose too. Even though they all have TVs in their rooms, they all want to watch the TV in the living room, likely because it’s a large screen, but still! Our eldest son has his own laptop too, and he still wants to fight the others to use the computer in the living room. He claims that the living room computer plays his games better. Well, we have gotten these children on stricter chores and responsibilities which has been working out, but they are still always fighting over ridiculous stuff. We are not hesitating to ground them though when they are being bad though. We finally decided to look into different getaways. My wife and I spoke of going to a nice hotel that looked something like a mansion. We ended up booking this hotel where we had a 2 story suite with a clear floor on the top where you could see down to the swimming pool. This was the ultimate party room with advanced climate control and a lovely fireplace. We got champagne, and delicious food while we had the time of our lives for this short weekend getaway.

My wife and I both happened to be the only child in each of our families, and I guess that’s why we wished that we had a large family. So over the years, we had kid after kid and now we have 6 children. Of course, we had to invest in a much larger home so that everybody could have their own room. We actually have a house now that has 9 bedrooms if you can believe it. I thought the energy bills would be overpriced, but we have an energy efficient HVAC that keeps the bills low. The thing I think I love the most is the fact that the house is out in the country. We are not bothered by the sounds of the city or anything like that, we actually hear nothing but nature with the birds singing and the bees buzzing around. If you go outside during the night hours, it’s nothing but sweet peaceful silence sometimes, either that or you hear the crickets chirping and frogs croaking. Most of the time though when the kids are all home, there is no such thing as silence. These children are always playing, fighting, singing, dancing, and the list carries on. Kids will be kids and we always tell them to get outside. Sometimes some of our children will go to hang out at friends’ houses, but we have to drive them to their destination. It’s always nice getting a little bit of peace though when they are away. More recently, I decided to take just my wife to a getaway cabin so we could have actual peace for awhile. It was great, the kids got a babysitter and we had a lovely romantic weekend getaway with a good climate control system and a comfortable fireplace.

My parents decided to pay for me to have guitar lessons when I was young.

I enjoyed learning to play the guitar so much because the teacher was fantastic.

I learned this guy had played in a few different bands and in a way, he was famous, but to the older generation mostly. He was retired from music, but he was still teaching, and to me it was an honor to be his pupil. Another thing I appreciated was the fact that the temperature control settings were always great in the area we were practicing music. Something I noticed was that the temperature control settings were different depending on where we were in the house. He generally kept his kitchen cool, the living room, and the garage where we normally practiced. He had soundproofing in there so it didn’t matter how loud the music was and I was really able to get into the music. It seemed like the more the AC system was cranking, the better I was able to play. My parents wouldn’t even let me play my guitar in the house, but my father eventually soundproofed the garage and let me play in there. He seemed annoyed when I complained about it being overheated in the garage, but he ended up paying an HVAC professional to install a ductless mini split air conditioner in there. After some time, eventually my buddies found out about me playing the guitar and they wanted to get a band together. We ended up practicing in the garage and they even came to learn a few things from my guitar teacher. He wasn’t only about playing guitar, he knew about playing drums and other instruments. Before we knew it, we were playing our own shows as a band and we were pretty darn good.

My wife has always been an expert gardener.

• The only thing she needed my help with was digging up a space for her to plant all her plants and flowers.

Over the years, the space has grown even larger as she dreams of adding more plants to her garden. This year, we made a space for her to grow watermelons and she has a special set up that has little pockets to hold the developing watermelons and keep them off the ground. This year, the children were curious about how the garden functioned. They wanted to know about the flowers and how they produced seeds and things like that. I wasn’t the expert like their mother, but I told them briefly how plants need pollinators like bees and other insects to spread the pollen so that plants are able to produce fruit. The bees use the pollen to eat basically like a protein they need. People sometimes mistakenly think that bees use the pollen to produce honey, but it’s actually the nectar they take from different plants that allows them to produce honey. They use the pollen to feed themselves and to also feed the baby bees. While everybody was out there speaking with their mom about the garden, it was becoming very hot outside. I tried to tell everybody that I wanted to get back inside to enjoy some air conditioning for a little while. I need AC breaks from time to time especially when it’s seriously overheated outside. Noone seemed to be paying attention and then I asked if everybody wanted some ice-cream. That got their attention! Suddenly we were all inside with the pleasant air conditioning. I fixed everybody some lunch and then we enjoyed some ice cream before leaving the air conditioning to go back outside again.
