He said yes and now we are supposed to be going to dinner later on this weekend

I know that this is really going to sound weird and make me seem like I am a creepy weirdo, but I just can’t seem to stop thinking about my HVAC technician for some reason. I don’t usually put myself in situations where I meet new men very often, and I am actually on the market myself right now! I would really like to have a new boyfriend, and so when this super handsome guy showed up in my driveway the other day in a heating and cooling maintenance truck, it was like fate had basically just deposited him right there on my doorstep. When I saw him through the window, I immediately ran to the bathroom to comb my hair and put on some lip gloss! He is the only person that I have ever met before who looks really great in a heating and cooling company uniform. He really made that uniform look great, that’s for sure. Anyway, I knew that I was going to ask him out the minute he knocked on the door of my house. He came in, went down to the furnace room in the basement, and he had my broken heating system back up and running in no time at all. I thought he seemed really smart and friendly and I finally just asked him out. He said yes and now we are supposed to be going to dinner later on this weekend. I know that it’s only a couple of days away, but I can’t stop thinking about him. I can’t wait until our date.

The other night when we went to the movies, there was an annoying ticking sound that kept happening the whole time that the movie was playing.

It was really driving me crazy because I cannot stand repetitive noises.

I finally gave up and went out to the lobby to see if I could find a manager to complain about it to. I couldn’t find a single employee of the movie theater when I went out into the lobby. There was not even anyone at the popcorn counter at that point. I looked around and finally found all of them huddled in one of the back rooms off the back of the ticket booth. They were all huddled together around what appeared to be an electric space heater in that little room. Then I heard the manager talking about how he had a call into the commercial HVAC company, but they had not shown up yet at that point. When he saw me standing out there waiting to talk to someone, he came out and told me that they were having all kinds of problems with their heating and cooling system. Then he apologized about the inconvenience. He was so nice about the whole thing that I did not even feel like yelling at him by that point. I was all ready to let him have it at that point, but I felt sorry for him because he seemed so stressed out because of the HVAC issues. I just gave up and listened to the ticking for the rest of the show.

Our neighbors told me the other day that they are going to be getting a divorce.

I can’t believe that they are finally doing it after all of these years, but I can’t really say that I’m all that surprised, either.

They fight all the time, and we can hear them all the way over here at our house. During the winter when the temperatures are cold outside, it’s not that much of a problem because all of the windows and doors are closed. However, during the summer when the weather starts heating up, they fight like crazy and we can hear them loud and clear. They always fight very passionately, and several times I thought about calling the police because they sounded like they were getting just a little bit carried away. Anyway, when they told me they were getting a divorce, I tried to act surprised. They said that one of the main reasons that they were calling it quits is because they can never seem to decide on the thermostat settings in their house. He said that she is always cold and she said that he is always hot. Between the two of them, I could barely get a word in edgewise, but I gathered that the thermostat settings were a big part of their marriage problems. I can’t help but feel like they should have invested in zone control heating and cooling years ago. It might have even saved their marriage. I guess some people just don’t know how to compromise. It’s sad because I always hate to see a marriage end in divorce.

When I moved into my apartment, I didn’t go looking for a thermostat.

It was winter and comfortable in the apartment, so I didn’t give any thought to where the thermostat was.

I thought that if I ever had a problem with the HVAC system, I could call the maintenance guy. When it started warming up through the day, I would come home and it would too warm for my comfort, but I still didn’t say anything. It wasn’t until it got warm and I wanted the air conditioning on, that I realized I didn’t have a thermostat. I called the maintenance guy and asked hiim where the thermostat was. I could feel the heat on when I got home from work, and it was almost eighty-five in the apartment. I wanted to turn the thermostat down and save energy, while keeping it cooler in the apartment. He told me I shared a thermostat with another apartment, and it was in their apartment. I thought he was kidding, and told him I really needed it to be cooler in my apartment. He said that if I had a problem with the temperature I needed to talk to the other people. He gave me their apartment number and said to knock loud because they were old and going deaf. I couldn’t believe I needed to share a thermostat, or that I was subjected to their preference. I had two months left to my lease, and immediately put in my sixty day notice that I would be leaving when my lease was up.

I walked into a home last week to work on a furnace.

• The woman who let me into the house, showed me where the furnace was, and I thought it was odd.

The furnace was in the garage, which wasn’t attached to the house. I had often seen furnaces in attached garages, but never in one that was unattached. Right next to the furnace, was the air conditioning unit. I thought it was the oddest place for an AC unit, but I wasn’t the one who built the house. I finished with my work on the furnace and looked at the air conditioning unit. It looked brand new, but it had never been installed from what I could see. I didn’t want to say anything to the owner so I showed her the bill, got paid, and went back to the HVAC company. When I got back, the owner asked if I saw anything odd about the property. I told him that other than there was an air conditioning unit in the garage, and it had never been installed, I couldn’t find anything odd, and then I rolled my eyes. He laughed and asked if he noticed anything else. I hadn’t been in the house, so I didn’t notice anything if that’s what he was referring to. He said they had a brand new air conditioning unit in the garage, but they had window air conditioning units in the house. I asked him if he knew why that was? He told me they said the air conditioning didn’t belong to them. It was there when they moved in, and since it wasn’t installed, they were waiting for the owner to come back for it. That was three years ago.
